My Thoughts on Credit Cards (English)
Korea is a very credit-oriented society, and I rely on my credit card a lot, too. It’s convenient and lets me use money before I actually earn it, which can feel like a good deal. But credit cards are also complicated with their billing cycles, and they basically make you spend your future income.
Even though they seem to offer great perks, people often end up spending more than they can actually afford. This kind of overuse can push young people with poor self-control into serious debt—even bankruptcy. That’s why I’m trying hard to cut back on my credit card usage. I mainly use a debit card now to control my daily expenses, and I’m saving more so I can invest in the future.
To me, credit cards are useful tools, but they also encourage overspending if you’re not careful.
